Dieter Mammel: HOT
Opening Reception Thursday, June 2nd, 6 – 9 PM
exhibition runs: June 2nd – 29th, 2016
Christopher Cutts Gallery is pleased to announce it’s 3rd solo exhibition by Berlin based painter Dieter Mammel.
This exhibition titled, “HOT” is comprised of a selection of figurative paintings incorporating both coloured ink and Aquacryl* on unprimed canvas. These works are created using a unique technique of applying both ink and Aquacryl medium on wet canvas. A technique primarily reserved for works on paper. The results are startlingly fresh and arresting.
The paintings are imbued with the directness of the artist touch and intention usually reserved for the existential act of abstract action painting or traditional Chinese calligraphy.
*Lascaux Aquacryl Hybrid, as the brand name suggests, is both an acrylic and water soluble medium (ie. watercolour). All Aquacryl colours are completely transparent and produce strong, rich colours that handle like a very smooth and fluid acrylic.
