Eldon Garnet

Eldon Garnet is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist, writer, and former editor of Impulse Magazine. Active in the art world since 1975, his sculptures have been erected all across Toronto. As seen through works like the Chinese Railroad Worker Memorial at Blue Jays Way and Navy Wharf Court, as well as his Equal Before the Law statue at 21 Osgoode Lane, Garnet has created poetry by bending bronze and steel. The artist is well known for his creation and installation of hundreds of public art pieces. Though he is primarily based within Toronto, his work has been shown across the world from North America to Europe. Garnet participated at the Venice Biennale in 1985. Another one of his many disciplines include photography, often making large-scale pictures of his sculptures while also making intentional constructions of imagery.

Eldon Garnet has been working with Christopher Cutts since the early 2000s, showing with them at various intentional art fairs and solo exhibitions. One of which was a series of mini bronze figures and aluminum sculptures made by the artist. His last solo exhibition at Cutts was entitled “Amalgamation,” displayed from October to November 2023, where his works were reframed from their original context and placed between a public and private space.
