Opening Reception: Friday, April 11th, 2008, 6pm – 9pm
Exhibition runs until: May 14th
Christopher Cutts Gallery, 21 Morrow Avenue, Toronto, ON, M6R 2H9
From April 11 to May 14th the Christopher Cutts Gallery will be exhibiting the latest series of work by Toronto artists Andrew Rucklidge and Drew Simpson.
Andrew Rucklidge’s 2or 3 days spent in particle capture is his second solo exhibition at the Christopher Cutts Gallery. It features a series of works exploring constructed landscapes, from the molecular and the magnetic to the geothermal. “The painting arrives as a series of explosive gestures that are then revised and expanded on. I make use of accidents, capitalizing and harnessing chaos, but then go to the next level, where I make it clear that I’ve wandered around through all the areas.’
Also presented with the show is the newly published book ‘Andrew Rucklidge Paintings 2005-07’.
Andrew Rucklidge b.1968 attended both Concordia where he received his BFA in painting and The Chelsea College of Art and Design where he achieved an MFA. In addition, he also holds a B.SC in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill. His paintings have recently been included in ‘Fusion Now’, a curated exhibition in London examining the concept of increased energy production and consumption as well as the international art fairs Scope NY and Art Chicago.
