I am delighted to announce the opening of an exhibition titled, Director’s Choice II, which functions as both an extension of as well as a counterpoint to the Gallery’s modern program.
Gordon Anderson, Mat Brown, Matthew Carver, Sherri Hay, Xiao Guo Hui, Peggy Kouroumalos, Richard Stipl, Daisuke Takeya, Ted Tucker, and Lorne Wagman explore the relationship between traditional mediums and contemporary figurative / narrative based work. The examination of this relationship reflects both the past and present day conditions of art making.
The contemporary representatives of abstract painting featured in the exhibition are Max Johnston, Pat McDermott, and Andrew Rucklidge. All work to extend the language of abstraction through medium, concept, and technique.
Rounding off the exhibition is a selection of text- based works by conceptual artist, Eldon Garnet.
