Opening Reception Saturday, May 4th 2013 2PM – 6PM
Christopher Cutts Gallery is pleased to host its seventh solo exhibition by Ed Zelenak. Zelenak is a senior Canadian Sculptor based in West Lorne, Ontario. He has been working and exhibiting since the early 1960’s.
This exhibition, “Divining the Frontiers”, is composed of both wall dependent and free standing sculptures. They extend Zelenak’s art practice of working with “heavy materials” copper, tin, lead ect…, to explore their inherent materiality while transcending into a metaphysical realm.
In the south gallery there are five alloyed tin on copper plate wall installations titled Levitations etc… The north gallery, a series of wall sculptures titled Divining the Fields ect…, as well as four floor standing bronze vessels. All works in the north gallery incorporate the divining motif.
