Christopher Cutts Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings
by Lorne Wagman.

Wagman has been exhibiting his unique take on the Canadian landscape for
nearly four decades. Lorne began exhibiting at the celebrated Isaac’s Gallery in
the mid 1980’s, and he continued to show there until their closing in the early
1990’s. At that time he began exhibiting with the Christopher Cutts Gallery.

In this new body of work Wagman continues his incredible, perceptibly
claustrophobic, landscapes of the dense Canadian flora. However these paintings
are on a massive unprecedented scale in his oeuvre. The monumentality of the
painting further accentuates the physicality of the painted surface, as well as
the subject matter, which they portray. Hence, these works are both abstracted
material based paintings as well as rich myopic landscapes.
