Christopher Cutts Gallery is delighted to announce an exhibition of works on paper from the Estate of Ray Mead.  Mead’s first one man show at the gallery was in 1994, Paper Trail marking his eighth solo show.

Works on paper are often less constrained than works on canvas. This is due to the perceptive freedom of the medium. Resulting generally in more relaxed and spontaneous composition.
Paper Trail is composed of works from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s in a variety of mediums.

They all illustrate Mead’s uncompromising sense of composition, whether gesturally frenetic or contemplatively open. His approach to painting, paper or canvas, is a thoughtful practice with every gesture or mark, though seemingly happenchance, being acutely deliberate. This compositional mindfulness creates a sense of balance and tension encouraging the spectator to be both focused and kinetic.
